SANJALICE - To su bili dani (1966-1968)

Slika
SANJA LICE  were one of, probably not many, girl bands in ex-Yugoslavia and probably the only girl band that released a record at that time. Sanjalice was formed in Beograd, Serbia,  in 1965. Their records are not that wild, but song "Bez reči" is one of the best girl 60s punk songs. They split up in 1969.

The keyboardist and composer Đorđe Novković was the only constant in the band, through which passed some say as many as 100 musicians. Another constant of the band was their lead singer Vladimir Savčić Čobi, which is a part came after a number of earlier singers. It was only with him the band is experiencing its first successes. Đorđe Novković is also played with Indexi, since 1968. (replaced Kornelije Kovač who went to the Korni groupa) until the beginning of 1970 when it was replaced by Ranko Rihtman and he returned to the Pro Arte. This is their first single record from 1969. MATT COLLINS - 18 izvornih snimaka (1963-1967)

Slika
MATT   COLLINS   was born as Karlo Metikoš on February 8, 1940 in Zagreb, Croatia (ex-Yugoslavia). Studied to become a classical pianist but got absorbed into rock and roll in 1956 via couple of singles (Bill Haley, Elvis Presley, Little Richard) that he got as a present with an imported record player. Finding replacement needles for western gramophones was next to impossible in 50's Yugoslavia so he had to improvise with ordinary sewing needles to cater for his hunger for music. Needles to say he played those few precious records to the bone. Got his first paying job in 1958 in a cabaret show. Since nobody in the management knew nothing about rock and roll they simply filed him under negro spirituals and made him wear black shoe polish makeup on stage. In 1959 he puts together a vocal group "Regal", and sings to French tourists in holiday resorts on the Adriatic coast. The band appears a few times on regional television which sparks a controversy over its name. In Serb

The lineup performed until April 1967 when the band had split in two fractions. Todorović did not continue working with any of the fractions, moving to Siluete and then to the band CD. Milan Buza, with Branko Stefanović (vocals), Đorđe Doksas (solo guitar), Moma Lukić (drums) and Dušan Ćućuz (bass guitar), performed under the moniker Džentlmeni for approximately a year at local parties before disbanding in 1968. The other fraction, featuring Bogdanović and Jelić, continued working with the new Džentlmeni lineup, completed by Mihajlo Simikić (tenor saxophone, clarinet, piano and vocals), Branko Marušić "Čutura" (vo
